FAQs

What types of toys are accepted at The Big Little Garden?

The Big Little Garden exclusively accepts toys that prioritize educational value and holistic child development. These toys are chosen based on specific criteria to provide enriching play experiences. The Big Little Garden strives to select toys that emphasize open-ended play, encouraging children to explore their creativity and imagination; sensory engagement, stimulating cognitive development through touch, sight, sound, and smell; and replicate real-life activities, fostering practical life skills and independent exploration. Stringent quality checks guarantee safety, durability, and defect-free toys, aligning with The Big Little Garden's commitment to promoting high-quality, developmentally appropriate play.

Why are only certain brands and toys accepted at The Big Little Garden?

Being rooted in the Midwest, The Big Little Garden recognizes the difficulty in acquiring top-notch items without the premium price tag. Our mission is to bridge this gap by offering high-quality clothing and toys that may not always be within easy reach, making them accessible to families both within our local community and beyond.

What methods does The Big Little Garden use to sell items?

The Big Little Garden uses several methods to make their children's clothing and toys accessible to all. Live Instagram sales are hosted regularly to offer real-time showcasing of products and oftentimes, a first look at new products. Our website serves as a convenient online storefront, allowing customers to browse and purchase items at their leisure. Additionally, we host pop-up events throughout the year through local Farmers Markets, Fall Fests, Art Festivals, and other local events by request.

How does The Big Little Garden select a price for each item?

At The Big Little Garden, pricing for consignors' gently-loved children's items is thoughtfully determined. We take into account factors such as consumer interest, the popularity of the item, its brand, and its condition. This meticulous approach ensures that the prices set are fair, competitive, and reflective of the item's value in the market, benefiting both consignors and customers alike.

I live locally, can I do a local pick up?

Of course!  Communicate to The Big Little Garden that you would like to do a local pick-up and this information will be made available to you upon request.

What is the ship-out method?

At The Big Little Garden, we use various methods to make new items accessible to families throughout the week. Consequently, you may have multiple "orders" that you'd like to combine into a single shipment to avoid paying shipping and handling charges separately. To ensure the availability of your item(s), we kindly request that you complete the payment for your item(s) within 24-hours of receiving an invoice. Once we receive your payment, we will ask if you'd like to “ship-out” which would indicate you want to proceed with shipping. If you confirm, we will promptly ship your items. However, if you choose not to “ship-out”, we will reserve your items for up to one week (unless an extension is requested by the customer), allowing you more time to shop and reduce your overall shipping costs.

I have items I would like to try to sell, but if they are not listed or do not sell can I get them back?

Yes! You are able to receive the items you have not sold or were not listed. We only ask that you provide The Big Little Garden an itemized list of your inventory you would like returned so we can make these items available to you for pick up. Please refer to the Consignor Agreement to read more about the conditions related to the return of unsold or unlisted items.

Will items that are imperfect be accepted?

At The Big Little Garden, our mission is to provide families with high-quality clothing and toys in great to excellent condition at reduced prices. To achieve this, we meticulously inspect each item to maintain our stringent quality standards. Our aim is to offer items that not only meet your expectations but also have the durability to withstand the test of time and embark on new journeys with new children. Imperfect items will be accepted on a case-by-case scenario while considering the imperfection itself, quality of the item, and popularity.
